You know how most computer manufactuers offer a specific laptop they claim is for gaming? (Dell, gateway, Alienware, Falcon PC, etc.)

Well, two questions:

1) Are they worth it.
2)What brand would you say I get?

Or any advice in general.

Thanks!
Peace.

This is what happened:
I was on my computer (on the internet) and my computer froze on me. I tried pressing control, alt, delete to end the program, but that did not work, so I manually shut down my computer by pressing the button. I waited 30secs. and restarted it. The computer said that there was an error and windows needed to repair because of the manual shutdown. Instead of going to the home screen, it gave me the options of safe mode, return to windows...along with a few others. I tried all of them, and none of them worked, because it kept bringing me back to the screen of safe mode...windows mode...etc.
This has never happened before, and I was wondering if someone can help me fix this problem. I own a HP computer w/ tower (NOT a LAPTOP), and it is no longer under warranty.

I have an older Mac ibook (alot of times they are called the clamshell ibooks - its about 6 years old). I have OS 10 on it, but I think it needs some other updates. Is it better to update this or is it so old that I'm better off buying new?

I am looking for a 19-22 inch LCD monitor for $200-$400 Canadian The price is not that big of a deal. I find that the builky older monitors are more clear then most of the LCD I do not know why I feel this way. Anyhow I am good with computers but do not know anything about LCD monitors.

I want to know what stats to look for to get a great monitor. There is this 500:1 ratio things and contrast stuff , optimal (resolution ) and max resolution witch I think I can guess that one.

Just tell me what to look for to get a high quality LCD monitor thats around 19-22 inches.

Question 2. I heard that LCD monitors are made to only support one resolution or best fit one resolution. I do not like things being to small on the screen. I mostly game do you think I should get a wide screen or a full screen size LCD monitor. What is better for gaming or better overall? Thanks in advance.

I have been given a computer and told that i need to reformat it for it to work. I've looked on the net to try & find out what to do but i am a complete beginner unfortunately and have no idea what the hell i'm supposed to do! I don't have any disc's with the computer and i don't know what drivers are, what one's i need and where to get them from. It has to be said that i am completely baffled! :s If it wasn't for the fact that my accounts overdraft has reached it's maximum i would take this to someone who knows what they are doing, however i am completely broke this festive season and i wondered if any one reading this could please help me out and tell me exactly what i need to do.
Thanks in advance! :-)

I am working on building a computer for gaming, and I am trying to decide what type of motherboard I should get. I have narrowed it down to "ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX Intel Motherboard" and "ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium/WiFi-AP Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI ATX Intel Motherboard". I am looking for a motherboard that will be able to support a GeForce 7950, so I was wondering which would be better. Thanks for your help!

Trying to put new Motherboard in an Emachine. I have tried to post with it out of the case..Nothing..no post, no beeps. I changed memory, no luck. I changed CPU, no luck. I'm using a BioStar P4M80-M4 motherboard.
The monitor is good...it works on another computer. The video is on-board, on-board Audio. I changed out the CMOS Battery in case it was dead. I cleared the CMOS, no luck. I've installed several motherboards and this is the first time I have had one that didn't even post or beep.
Any ideas.
thanks
