Yes you can. Just make sure the processor speed is lower or equal to the ram speed, never higher. The two modules should be at the same speed, but will work ok if they are not. The higher will default back to he lower speed. The system will run at what ever has the slowest speed

Slower speed RAM in one slot can make all slots run at that slower speed, no matter the higher speed rating...

And, check with the vendor webpage, support forum, or with a major memory vendor who would supply the warranteed memory.

It is okay if it is 512 and 1 MB, as long as they have the same type* of memory like if it takes a pc100 at 100MHz then both must be the same, but different sizes of memory does not matter at all.

You can put whatever the hell you want in your system.
two sticks of PC2700[type]
or
1 stick of 1gb and 2 sticks of 256. it doesnt matter, as long as you're bios reconzies it.
