My laptop could play DVD till i had to reformat it,since then when i put a DVD in it says i cant play because because DVD is not supported,then it says i need a codec or something like that,then takes me to a site with very expensive softwares,please can anyone kindly help me,and give me instructions on what to do...thanks a million

You will need your laptop's system CD or if there is one for your DVD-ROM drive then use that. This will probably install a DVD player in your laptop. Your laptop software bundle should have atleast a DVD player program. These programs install the DVD driver for you at no cost.

Once you install the system drivers for your laptop and the aforementioned DVD player software then download a player from
http://www.videolan.org for your operating system. Use this player instead to play your DVDs instead.

Download Divx. It's free, comes with a codec, and a viewer. BR
