This is what happened:
I was on my computer (on the internet) and my computer froze on me. I tried pressing control, alt, delete to end the program, but that did not work, so I manually shut down my computer by pressing the button. I waited 30secs. and restarted it. The computer said that there was an error and windows needed to repair because of the manual shutdown. Instead of going to the home screen, it gave me the options of safe mode, return to windows...along with a few others. I tried all of them, and none of them worked, because it kept bringing me back to the screen of safe mode...windows mode...etc.
This has never happened before, and I was wondering if someone can help me fix this problem. I own a HP computer w/ tower (NOT a LAPTOP), and it is no longer under warranty.

Mine has done that before... more than a few times actually..
If its the same thing that I had, try this..
Load the computer in Safe Mode. If it doesn't give you the option to when you restart it, press F8 when the computer first turns on a couple times til the menu if brought up.
Once you're in Safe Mode, go to Start, Control Panel, thn System, Go to Hardware, then Device Manager. What the problem could be is your system locks up when it loads certain drivers. The most common ones to cause this are the audio drivers, so try this...
Under the Device Manager, look for "Sound, Audio..." and press the + next to it. Now right click on each of the items that drops down and click "Disable". Do this until all of them are disabled.
Once that is complete, shut down your computer, and turn it back on (don't restart, do a full shut down). It should hopefully bring you back to Windows normally, but your sound will be off. You can turn them back on the same way as you turned them off.
This seems to temporarily fix it. When I've done it, the computer restarts fine for a couple weeks or months, then will randomly do it one day. If that doesn't work, try it again disabling your CD drives, or any ports and network connections. The key is to figure out exactly what driver is doing it.
Hope that works for you!

Your best bet at this point is to try starting Windows using the “Last Known Good Configuration” option which will restore your system to the state when it last booted successfully into Windows. To load the last known good configuration on your Windows XP PC, reboot the computer and as it's booting tap the F8 Key several times until it brings up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use the arrow keys to move to "Last Known Good Configuration" and press the Enter key.

ok curiously this may well be someone-friendly concern between intel-based northbridge chips. Is your laptop reveal open lots? It in all likelihood is, while this occurs the followers surely blow any dirt that falls in between the chips and the help buses. This loosens the relationship basically sufficient to reason domicile windows to fail the close down technique because it could not deliver the binary alerts to the OS to tell the person to fully sign off. So domicile windows is super, yet you will could open your laptop and restoration it. Now thankfully for you, that's incredibly common. that is basically a rely of blowing between the northbridge chips and the front edge bus. wish this facilitates!

U should click what ever switch that connects your computer all together and wait a couple of seconds and turn it back on. If that does not work try calling technical support and see what they can do.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

You have crashed your hard drive!
Never manually turn it off when the drive light is on.
You will have to re format the hard drive, and re install windows, and everything else, sorry.
