You hear sounds after your computer starts up??? Are those sounds like beeps? If they are so, they may be a memory problem. What you can do is that you can ope the system tower and try reseating the memory. If you notice that you have two or more memory chips, place only one in there and then try. I am sure reseating the memory would take care of it.
Also check if the power light stays on even after the sounds and stays green. if it does so, you can turn off the power and disconnect the power cable at the back and reseat all the cables again and before you reconnect the power cable again, just press and hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Yes, you need to do so with the power cord unplugged. this might help. If not it might be a internal hardware problem. You can contact HP technical support and they might replace a few parts based on their troubleshooting. All the very best.

I think its the power supply failure. I had something like that 1 year ago...I turned my pc on and after 1-3 seconds it went off again.I heard noises but also i heard some sparking sounds from my pc...and saw them from my power supply.I bought a new one and let a hardware expert install it for me.Then it was working again. If its not that then maybe theres something wrong with your motherboard.Go to a profession repairman or sent it back to the shop..If its still in warranty dont hesitate to go there right away...So my tip: go find some expert and let him check it out.

We are going to need more information. I suggest posting on a forum for this, My peronsall facorite forum would be xtechforum.com its a small community, but a larger forum that is also helpfull, would be tech-forums.net

Do you see anything at all on the screen?
When you say a few noises, are they beeps? If so, thats called a "beep code" that is used for diagnostics. How many beeps are their? and are they long or short?

If something does show on the screen, at what point does it stop?

Sounds like a power supply problem, but could be disk drive, motherboard, who knows what. Best idea is to take it to a repair shop, they can narrow it down in a matter of minutes and tell you what you are up against.
