I had to wipe-out my computer earlier and now I can't get the speakers to work. They are plugged in to the right slot and they don't use batteries. Can you please tell me how to fix this though?

Has anyone ever built a computer from scratch (tower/motherboard/cpu/ram/etc.)? What was your goal for it? How much did you spend in total? Did you keep it or did you sell it? Reason i'm asking, i was thinking about building a couple computers from scratch and was thinking about puting them on EBAY and probably selling them. Anyone have experience with this? any and all info you have is appreciated. Ideas are welcomed as long as they are good ones.

My monitors resolution is 1440x900. If I'm not mistaken thats better then a 720p HD-TV but the video just doesn't look as crisp. Why?

I just upgraded mother board, cpu and ram and added another hard drive. Everything works except that when I burn a disk, it burns about a song or a song and a half then the whole system locks up. The hard disk meter also gets too high during this operation. Any ideas?????

I popped the key off, it is a Sony VAIO laptop...it is very clean. The slash just starts and stops at will. I have run McAfee, but no virus seems to be the problem. Do you think the keyboard itself might be the problem? I am unable to type the forward slash when I depress the key.

Hi there today I went to Compusa, and purchased an ibook G4 the 12", 1.33 ghz, with combo drive, they have them in special for $749.00 including 3 years of apple care. But now my question is this, for 100 dlls more I can have the 14" with a super drive and 1.42 ghz, I don`t know what to do. Do I keep the 12" or should I spend 100 dlls more and go for the 14". What are the pros and cons of each model?

Which is the better of these 2? I'm restrained by price but the Pentium D 945 looks very attractive with its 3.4GHz .core and enormous cache of 4Mb - it costs just 115 british pounds, the Core 2 E6300 cost 125 pounds but is just 1.86GHz/core and total of 2Mb L2 cache. I know the Pentium D has heat problems- can use extar case fans for these. Can the E6300 really outperform the Pentium D 945?

I have a HP Compaq Presario ( 1 yr old ) and its CD/DVD drive stopped working. The Device Manager states "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)". The "Troubleshooter" says that it can't solve this problem. I just got a new mac. I transfered all my files from PC to Mac. Both laptops have 60gb of memory. In my Compaq, I have over 30 gb of free storage, while in my mac I only have a bit less than 25gb. Why? If I have almost the same file. What can I do to improve my storage in my mac? By the way, it is a MacBook with Intel.

When I open up my laptop screen it flickers. I was told that there is a wire inside the laptop that gets loose every once in a while and if I was to just open it and push these wires back together, my laptop screen will stop flickering. I do not know anything about the inside of a laptop, and I know more about desktops. Laptops a different world. My laptops a Gateway WMIB-114G. Is it a good idea top open it and try connecting the wires myself? Professionals charge too much to such a quick job. So thats not an option.
