assuming u are running windows system
there are 2 main methods.
First backup ur important files to any removable disk and after reisntall ur OS. while reinstalling it will ask for partition sizes.
After partition is created u just restore ur important backuped data.
pros: save and 100 working method (if ur OS or PC is proper)
cons: takes too much time, besides u'll need backup software.
Second way (better than 1 for me) is to just download partitioning
software and using it just split ur drive.
pors; easy in use, fast,
cons: spending on partition manager software.
as for softwares : there is Acronis company, that
provides both backup and partition softwares.
Their products are rather cheap and very save.

Get Norton's Partition magic, it will do it for you on the fly if you don't want to reinstall Windows from the cd where it will ask you to create partitions.
