I just got a new mac. I transfered all my files from PC to Mac. Both laptops have 60gb of memory. In my Compaq, I have over 30 gb of free storage, while in my mac I only have a bit less than 25gb. Why? If I have almost the same file. What can I do to improve my storage in my mac? By the way, it is a MacBook with Intel.

It is because Macs come with so much software. You can delete some if you want. Thats why I upgraded to 100 GB.

I've heard that replacing harddrives on macbooks are VERY easy! It should be much cheaper buying online rather than thru apple. Good luck.

to naz18hg, he didn't make a wrong choice, he made HIS choice.

THe files from the PC because they are windows based might've sucked up a little extra space on your mac. try compressing the files and see what happens, Basically when i get my new mac, im not transfering anything but important stuff over and backing up anything else on a zip drive or Cd-rws. I Dont want my mac to be touched with windows crap.

Because you dont have the same os mac may take up more room on your 60GB computer than windows will.

It could also be your Mac system software that could be taking that extra space. Macs generally come bundled with more software, including drivers for almost all peripherals you may plug in.
