I have a Toshiba Satellite P25S609. It had a vertical line (about 2 mm wide) all the way from top to bottom on far left of the screen for a while. Lately when the machine starts, half of the screen on the left stays black with interleaving vertical lines on top of it. The vertical lines are about 1 and half inches apart. The black screen usually goes away if I move the screen back and forth slightly. But today things have changed - the (half) black screen together with the vertical lines won't go away any more no matter what I do, and the whole machine becomes useless because of this.

My questions are: Is the LCD dead? or is it because of the cable connecting the LCD and motherboard? I opened up the screen and checked that there's no loose connection.

If the LCD is bad, what's the last thing I could try before trashing the LCD?

Basically I want to make it as fast and smooth as possible. I use ot to record and edit audio with some very powerful software like Reason 3 and Adobe Audition.

I just want it to run as quick as possible because its strugglin at the moment. Would I be better off getting a new pc or laptop? What about a Mac? My budget is about 500euro. What kind of specs should I be looking at for a audio editing based computer? HELP!!

everytime i start my computer, it shows the logo of the motherboard, in my case, foxconn. then after that, it stops. it didn't show the part where you can enter the bios configuration. a friend of mine suggest that i replace the IDE cable, i followed his advice but still the problem exist. please help, college classes starts today, and i badly needed this computer.

I have run checks for virus, spyware, and everything else imaginable, all come back clean. The computer starts up and the screen asking what mode I want to start it in comes up (same results with all), then the Windows XP screen appears, it appears to be thinking, then the black screen of death appears and that is how it stays til I turn it off. Is there a chance my files can be saved from hard drive if removed by someone who knows what they are doing? I don't want to do a OS reinstall before if that is possible. I thought I knew about computers, but OBVIOUSLY not.

I am trying to increase my GB space on my C:/ and I'm confused about which to buy at Dell.com. Should I buy memory or a hard drive? I looked at the memory options on Dell and as far as I can tell, the most space available on a thing of memory is about 512 MB which doesn't seem like that much. I want to increase my storage by about 20-30 GB. Any suggestions?

We had a printer attached to our front USB port, and our daughter came in, and tripped over the cable. Unfortunately, this broke the USB, the pins touched, caused a short circuit, resulting in the power supply, motherboard, and hard drive to be damaged. We had not backed up the data (I know, I know!), and would like to retrieve the data if possible. Unfortunately, when the damaged hard drive is connected to another computer, it does not work, as it must have blown some of the circuits. Is there any way to retrieve the data on the disk, as it has our holiday pictures from Florida last year (as well as other stuff)?

hi ok i just bought a dvd-rw and i want to install my cd-rw also but when i do i set the dvd-rw as master on 2nd ide port ans the cd-rw as the slave on 2nd ide port when i start up in safemode and normal mode windows freezes up? does anyone know why this coyuld be happening? plz help its cuz so i can burn or copy two cds at a time and my cd-rw reads the cds faster pl plz help thanks oh i have an lite-on dvdrw and lg-hitachi cd-rw ABIT KG7 motherboard and like 511 mb memory 70 Gb HD amd athlon 1700+windows 2000 thanks

i got a power surge at my house and my hd got messed up by the shock and now when ever i try to turn on my computer. it restarts just before it gets to the blue login screen, i tried to press f8 and go "last configuration that work". i dont have my xp cd and i cant find my back up cd's is there any way i can get into my computer ?

I am looking to find a nice turion x2 (dual core 64 bit) laptop.
I have been eyeing one with a 15.4 in screen and a moderately good graphics core (x1600 / 7600).

My DVD burner can read CD but DVD now. so I am going to clean my DVD burner's lens by compressed air , so I have questions :
1. what equipment can produce compressed air to blow the lens
