Basically I want to make it as fast and smooth as possible. I use ot to record and edit audio with some very powerful software like Reason 3 and Adobe Audition.

The specs are here: http://www.mtekk.com.au/tabid/54/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/302.aspx

I just want it to run as quick as possible because its strugglin at the moment. Would I be better off getting a new pc or laptop? What about a Mac? My budget is about 500euro. What kind of specs should I be looking at for a audio editing based computer? HELP!!

You may have to expand the memory. Depending on how much memory it can hold. Since the software is huge, you may have to expand the hard drive as well. It's a decent laptop and should run fine. I'm just a bit hesitant on the fact that the processor is just a celeron.

Macs are good for (I usually say nothing) graphic design. I'm not certain about audio editing. Macs are way too expensive, especially if you're on a budget.

You're best bet is to just get a desktop PC. It's cheaper and easy to expand.

I read a little more into the article. Better off not wasting your money to upgrade. Get a new computer.

Macs are a standard for audio editing. For your budget, the only new option for you is to get a Mac Mini, but you can also find a used computer. Macs have a very large resale market. Don't know your situation, but a PowerMac would probably be the best solution as you can add on more easily than a portable.
