I don't know if anyone has previously experienced this, but right now this minute, my modem is turned off, and im regularly browsing the internet, but at a lower speed. I have a wireless network connection, and a laptop, the speed of the internet now is 11Mbps (which is slow). And the signal strength is low, and the status is "Connected". But i assure u that my modem is turned off, so wat can this be???????

Question says it all... I am starting a small business where I must network 24 computers together... I have a couple of options on the table, but I would like to see if anyone has any ideas.
1. They must all be networked in one network
2. The connection must be fast (not fast for internet, just for the network)
3. All 24 computers must be able to be on the network simultaneously (this is a must)

I am using Cat6 unshielded wiring (thanks to location and business type, shielded is not a necessity). Performance is key issue, so all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I m currently using a so called broadband connection(Sify) provided by my local cable operator. All local cable operators in India suck!

I want to know if there is some way by which I can connect to the internet without dealing with middlemen or telephone modems. Is there some kind of device that sits next to the computer and connects to hi speed internet regardless of its geographical location?

I have two desktop computers. One is connected to my router and cable modem with ethernet, and my other computer has a wireless card and has a printer. I can use the internet on both but there is no network between them and I need to be able to print from both. I tried running the wireless network setup wizard but it doesn't work.. Also it wants me to use my flash drive, which is fine on the computers but it says plug it into my router but, hello, my router doesn't have a damn USB port, how can I set it up then? I mean, I can type the router's IP and log into it, and I named the SSID the same as the network, but it still doesn't work. So is it just the network not working or did I miss something? I did every step.

I know if I was able to go to windows update, it would find them for me, but it's my eithernet controller that needs the driver, so I have no access to the internet with that computer. I don't know what make my card is so i can't even go download the driver for it. device manager just calls in ethernet controller. but when i look at the details it says that the hardware Id is pci\ven_100b&dev_0020subsys_0850103c&rev_100 but when I did a search on that i came up with basically nothing.

Hi, I have a wireless Gateway modem from SBC. I seem to have problems staying connected when I use my cordless phone. I have heard that it it's because it interferes with the frequency that the cordless phone uses. I'm currently using Channel 1
on my modem. It gives me the option to use 11 different channels. Has any one come cross this problem? If I use one of the other channels, will the connection speed decrease?
