I don't know if anyone has previously experienced this, but right now this minute, my modem is turned off, and im regularly browsing the internet, but at a lower speed. I have a wireless network connection, and a laptop,the speed of the internet now is 11Mbps (which is slow). And the signal strength is low, and the status is "Connected". But i assure u that my modem is turned off, so wat can this be???????

You are surfing using someone else's wireless connection. Right click on the wireless connection icon and select view wireless connections.

You don't need a modem for a wireless connection ... modem is required for a dial-up connection
For wireless connection all you need is a router(this is an external thing) and a wireless network card(that is in your laptop) ... which I guess you have got and that how you r connected to internet and it shows the status connected !
