I m currently using a so called broadband connection(Sify) provided by my local cable operator. All local cable operators in India suck!

I want to know if there is some way by which I can connect to the internet without dealing with middlemen or telephone modems. Is there some kind of device that sits next to the computer and connects to hi speed internet regardless of its geographical location?

If you're on a "telephone modem" you do not have broadband.

If there is a satellite by you which provides high speed internet connection you can possibly arrange a connection with the company or a company which has a high speed data connection over the satellite. You may want to look into local telecommunications companies who can provide this service.
please note~ This *WILL* be expensive.
