I have a Maxtor Shared Storage Plus NAS that I have had no problem accessing from windows xp. I recently switched to Vista, and am no longer able to the NAS from my Vista machine. Under network, it shows up as mss-xxxxxx : MSS Mediaserver, but when I click "view full map" it says that the following discovered device cannot be placed on the map." Additionally, I have no success in trying to map the device. It doesn't find it when I manually type the path in.

The CEO takes a lot of work home, and has set up a home wireless network using 802.11g equipment. Some sensitive business information has recently been showing up in local news, and the CEO’s home network is the likely suspect. What steps would you follow to check the security of her home network? What steps would you recommend to improve that security?

I have a linksys wireless adapter with speed booster. It was working yesterday but today it just says "acquiring network address". Now it doesnt connect to my router. I tried disabling the TCI/IP under the properties then it says connected, but wont let me access any applications that need to connect to a network like AIM of IE. This is understandable, but I need some advice on what to do. Has anyone had a similar problem and how did you solve it?
Btw: My router doesnt have any security set on it, so that isnt the issue.

we have our dsl provider(just connected to them) at 75sar(living in ksa) offering 100mbp/s. BUt it is slow, and I'm getting tired of it...
and in the philippines, i think a telecommunication company is also offering 100mbp/s but FAST, unlike here in ksa, it is SLOW!!! it also comes fast, but ones in a blue moon!
and there comes a dsl provider offering 512kbp/s at 100sar...
which is faster, 100mpb/s or 512kbp/s?

how do i determine that 100mpb/s is slow?
* i play runescape, and lagging is associated in the game!!!
* browsing the net, its slow!

Hi i am asking this question on behalf of a friend. He has a combined router and modem which he his trying to connect to his main computer. There is an ethernet cable to connect it to the computer but his computer does not have an ethernet card so he has an ethernet/usb adapter instead. When he plugs it into his main computer the relevant light on the router and the light on the usb adapter DO NOT come on, but if he takes the adapter out of the main computer and plugs it in his laptop both of the lights on the router and the adapter come on..
has anybody any ideas why this may be happening, both he and i are baffled as to why it works in one but not the other. Both are running on XP.
Gratefull for any suggestions. Thank you
