i bought the D-:ink DSS-5+ router from bestbuy the other day and damn be hold i try to get onto xbox live on myh 360 and i CANT. i have my ethernet cord connected to my router then another ethernet cord from computer to router. I have internet with COMP. thats fine but i cant seem to get online with my 360 and i have it hooked up in number 4 spot on my 5 spot router which consists of, #1 slot my modem cable #2 slot my comp cable, #3 slot my PS3 cable and #4 slot my xbox 360. My 360 sayas it cant read my IP address and im very confused as i have tried EVERYTHING i can think of and contacted everyone i know of. im [pretty desperate. So if YOU can i would appreicate if someone could post a walkthrough of setting up a router from modem to 360 and allowing it to set up correctly ..i have a D-Link DSS-5+......THANK YOU

The DSS 5+ is a SWITCH. Technically it is not a router.

The auto-crossover feature may allow connection to the WAN side broadband unit, but you may be asking too much of the DSS 5+ in that configuration of a LAN network.

See if the XBox supports PPPoE. But this is a shot in the dark as a solution.

I might wrap it up and see if I could exchange it for a real WAN/LAN ROUTER at the computer store.

Para two : basically your IP address will be 192.168.1.2 to 255. try any number 2 to 10. or go to this site to find out

Also you can get the IP as entered in your computer.
Start/Show all connections. Select and click properties.
