Right now i leave my home computer which runs xp pro on all the time because i frequently access it with a remote desktop program using my laptop (also xp pro). I also have a website hosted by yahoo. which is really just for personal use. It's convenient to have as a mediator between home and away. But it's annoying to log in, upload to my website using an FTP program, then accessing my website from say hawaii, download my content. I'm wondering if i can make a page with just a bunch of links on it that would point to my files on my home computer, which would then send them to me.
Also, I'm trying to do this for free. I can't afford xp server or server '03. I can't afford much at all. I'm pretty sure the remote desktop program I use, has a feature like this but you have to pay a pretty penny for the upgrade. And I would need to pay twice becuase it's per pc. I already inquired about that part. Any suggestions would be great.
Lets brainstorm, well can only answer once

We understand that the Internet does not have a central location, but is operated or "served" by thousands of "servers" from many parts of the world, but does anyone here on Answers know which countries have what percentage of the total Internet servers?

I've tried Apple support with no progress. I'm trying to access my files on my work's server using my new MacBook Pro. However, all the files are listed but they keep coming up as a "alias". Is there a setting that is just not selected so that the alias turns into the actual file? I'm the only Mac on the server (which supports Mac), so no one at work (all PC people) can help me.

My wireless internet used to stay on, but after I clicked "repair" on the "no wireless connection menu" the connection icon has a red X over it. Even when I view wireless networks and select one, it will say "connected" and indicate some strength, and sometimes even put me online but then soon kicks me back off...all while the X is still there on the icon. I dont undersatnd. right now as Im on line, when I scroll down over the icon, it reads "wireless network connection- not connected" I didnt get any new software and it used to stay on fine. Now I have to re-connect to the same network every few minutes. Also I dont undersatnd WPA or WEP. I might have tampered with that, please explain. I have a laptop and my wireless switch is on. I also been messing around in advanced settings and Authentication. Please walk me through a process! Thanx!

The company you work for is setting up a new Windows 2003 domain that will have about 500 user accounts in it when finished. The user accounts will be create in groups over a one month period starting with 10-Technical staff accounts the 1st week, 50-Bussiness office accounts the 2nd week, 90-Administration accounts the 3rd week and 350 sales and support accounts the last week. The president of the company has decided that the 4 top level managers will have an office with a computer at each division they manage.

My goals are to.....
1.Determine the best way for the Personal office to send you the names of the user accounts to be created each week.
2.What is the most efficient way to create these accounts?
3.How do you handle the users that work on more than one computer?

How would you handle these situations?

i'm trying to run Xlink Kai from my pc to my xbox. i'll get the message saying "pc out of range - port forward", something along those lines.

i've gone to a site that provided great information, but i still couldn't get things straightened out. i was wondering if it was my DNS server since both of them are the same, and my service provider told me they don't give DNS's (Bell/DSL) so i'm very confused since i've NEVER port forwarded before

HELP :)
