Basically I am living with 7 people and we have one wireless router, and i wanted to know if i decided to use a cable into one of the four ports on the router is that going to affect any other users on the network more than normal? ie affect their speed or anything cheers

By you plugging a cable directly into the wireless router, it will not necessarily retard their Internet speed. But you will gain the advantage of having a higher Internet speed.

We have done that at home and it didn't have much difference one way or the other. Seven people tho is different possibly. Cable modems are affected by amount of traffic. DSL lines are not affected that way. I don't believe you said which your router is connected to.

It wont affect their speed router-wise (i.e. speed of the computer-router connections) but it may bring down their internet connection speed depending on the internet connection bandwidth and how much of it u r using.
