Right now i leave my home computer which runs xp pro on all the time because i frequently access it with a remote desktop program using my laptop (also xp pro). I also have a website hosted by yahoo. which is really just for personal use. It's convenient to have as a mediator between home and away. But it's annoying to log in, upload to my website using an FTP program, then accessing my website from say hawaii, download my content. I'm wondering if i can make a page with just a bunch of links on it that would point to my files on my home computer, which would then send them to me.
Also, I'm trying to do this for free. I can't afford xp server or server '03. I can't afford much at all. I'm pretty sure the remote desktop program I use, has a feature like this but you have to pay a pretty penny for the upgrade. And I would need to pay twice becuase it's per pc. I already inquired about that part. Any suggestions would be great.
Lets brainstorm, well can only answer once

ok xp pro comes with a remote desktop connection feature. you can use this to access any computer with any other computer from anywhere. first you need to know the ip adress that your modem recieves from your isp, enter this as the domain that you are connecting to. then get the ip of the pc that you want to connect to and input that ip as the computer that you are connecting to. you will ned the admin password, and need to change alot of settings. like router need to accept remote access, all computers must have remote access enabled and unblocked from any fierwall, in windows firewall , advanced tab, select the connection to the internet, click settings, and check remote desktop. im sure theres more to change but its fairly easy.

Well man first you could try to make a ftp server in your home computer, then why don't you use "No IP, so you can check your ftp from whatever place, you can upload or download, even you can host a page in you computer with apache, try it, but you need to read, about (apache, the program no-ip, and you can get a free domain .tk)
