i have a 256 kbps dsl connection and an hp laptop that supports a/b/g. i need at least 54 mbps and below $50
i have only one laptop and no other system in my house
i basically want to access my internet wirelessly

from i tried the netgear website but when i download it it doesnt come up as a program and it says use the web to select the program.
is there anywere alse i can download from

i have a 2 computer at our house and 1 telephone cable. i have no router or hub because one of my friends said that it is no use if you have only two computers. i connect the two computer by the telephone cable but i don't know what is the next step. i try to play a game on LAN NETWORK but the other computer doesn't response that it has already a network.. pls give me some steps how to set-up my network by the use of telephone cable and what should i do next. pls help me so that we can play games together with my friends. thanks a lot,,,,:>

I recently hooked up my desktop to my netgear wireless router using a netgear wireless PCI card. Installed the netgear software, up and away, I'm online now.
Thing is, sometime the speed of the wireless connection to the router will be 54mbps, others 11mbps, currently it's 36mbps. It just varies even though the Signal Strength is low.

Any ideas? Is this normal? I have 8mb broadband so it's only an issue if it dips to 5.5, 2 or 1mbps.

I have both options on my Dell laptop. Would windows be easier to setup my laptop with a wireless router to the rest of the network at home. When I use the file pen to transfer settings from my desktop PC to laptop, I get error message about Windows not been in control.

Trying to walk my father through attaching files to emails or uploading pictures to the web over the phone is beginning to frustrate me to no end. I remember an IT guy at work helped a co-worker of mine access her computer at home from our computer at work. I'd like to do the same using my father's computer and mine, but I don't know how to network them other than for us to both download a peer to peer program (would take a ridiculously long time as my father's still in the ice ages of technology and using dial up). Know of any good sites/pages which clearly explain how to easily network them? Or could you tell me how to do it out of your own experience? Much thanks to all that help by answering. :-)

okay, I'm at work and there are prob 10 computers connected through the network. I'm wanting to move a comp into an unused room to set up an office. I've plugged my comp up & went to the back to plug a Cat5e cable to some box, and I get internet connection, but it won't connect to the program I need to access. It says NO CONNECTION. I am obviously missing something.
