To Make the computer wireless you will need to have either a PCMCIA wireless card or a USB Wireless Adapter attached to the computer. Then your modem will need to be a wireless router modem. This way you can start to have a computer being wireless connected. The Ethernet Card is for you to plug the RJ45 to the port of the modem or a wireless router modem. So it will be a wired connection and not a wireless. therefore you will need the above mentioned item to start to configure for a wireless network.

I use a Linksys USB wireless network adapter. It plugs in the USB port and automatically picks up all the wireless networks in range and lets you pick one. It cost $30 and is better than a card because you can place it where the reception is best.
