Ok, I recently allowed my roommate to have access to my computer while he is on his own computer so he could DL some files from mine through a router. Now my question is, how to ENSURE that he isnt doing anything OTHER than being able to DL files and where does it log what files he has DL'd and/or any other activities he might be looking or doing within my computer?
I am currently using Windows 2000 Professional.

I have a network with 2 computers and a router. One is windows 98se the other is Xp. The windows 98se is connected with a wireless network adapter and the windows Xp is connection with a cat5e cable. I have dial up Internet because high speed is not avalible in my area. I tried running the network setup wizard and it got file and printer sharing setup but the internet connection sharing won't work it always says the page can not be displayed. I also tried using a proxy but it did the same thing.

I like to game online with my Nintendo DS and a Linksys Wireless Router. The only problem is that when I invite friends over for them to play online as well, my ISP doesn't give me enough IPs for all of them and we lose the connection. I would like to know how to set up my router so that it will give out the IPs and not the ISP so I can have as many connections as I want and the DSL line will sustain. Can anyone help?

What are the alternatives? Most (60%) people now have dial up or dsl - there is no cable service available. We are told that the 30 year old buried coax won't handle a broadband signal.

I have one router (main) D-link. One of the network connections feeds another router Hawking which distributes to my upstairs computers. The D-link has a default IP of 192.168.0.1 and the Hawking has a default Lan IP of 192.168.8.1. Now the Hawking router is receiving its WAN connection from the distributed IP range on the D-link as a Dhcp client. Since this is the case I can't see anything on the 192.168.0.1 range from the upstairs LAN.
