I have LAN connection, and I normally use it on my laptop (I'm using my desktop right now)... well, I was away for a few days and when I came back and tried to connect it's unresponsive. The computer sometimes detects the connection and works OK for a lil' bit, but after 2 or 3 minutes it's as if there's nothing connected... I have a SB5100 SURFboard Motorola cable modem. tried connecting it to another computer and it works perfectly...I also tried with another cable, so the problem is with my laptop. does anyone know how to solve this problem? My laptop is a Compaq Armada M700 and it uses Windows XP professional. thanks.

The explosion of growth in the Internet has had a dramatic effect on the need for TCP/IP address space. IPv6 has been proposed as a solution to this problem. However, it is not without cost. Given the changes needed for a new addressing scheme, at what point you recommend that businesses change from the TCP/IP scheme of today to IPv6 or its successor? Consider implementation costs, business continuity, replacement of existing hardware and software, and the time needed for reprogramming in your response.

We just had a quick power outage at work and now one of the computers can't seem to access the internet or network anymore. It is strange because everybody else is ok and this one is hardwired to the switch, just like others and a wireless access point. Can a power outage cause a network card to go bad?

It took a few reboots to get the card to be recognized and now its getting an IP address just like normal but still no internet or network printing capabilities. Anybody have any ideas?

I have a Mac & Linksys router. I can get online but not when I am associated with my linksys router - only when I go to the airport connection and choose another computer. I've tried resetting the router, plugging / unplogging the power and cable line, rebooting the computer etc. Not sure what the problem is...any ideas? And btw, I did not originally install the router 3 years ago, so not sure how to run any sort of diagnostic test. Any ideas would be helpful!

I have a network setup and can share files. I just can't get the process of setting up a printer on a remote computer to work. I have the name of the network and the printer - I'm probably just not using some configuration option right.
