It might be that you need to install the latest drivers for your router on your Laptop. Go to the routers service site and see if you can find a newer version of the driver.

sounds like you fantastically a lot replied it on your own. in case you used a third celebration dongle and the speed remained strong, it appears that evidently like something to do along with your inventory wifi adapter interior the workstation. Broadcom adapters are widespread for being ehhh not so tremendous. that is the reason each and each and every of the workstation manufacturers use them, because they're affordable. the conventional consumer doesn't care even if that's a Broadcom or a Linksys, Belkin, etc... an excellent style of laptops enable the wifi unit to get replaced, i'm not positive about your workstation, yet on mine there's a collection of detachable metallic plates on the bottom, overlaying stuff like the RAM and the problematic force besides because the wifi card. i visit get rid of the wifi card (i did once in simple terms to work out what befell) and the workstation ran nice without it, no wifi although. Then I plugged it back in and the workstation redetected it. i have not in any respect shopped for those as they're an odd connection (not USB, not PCMCIA) so i do not understand in case you could get aftermarket ones or in case you could purely replace them with the only which got here with the workstation from the producer. interior the interim i imagine the purely undemanding answer is utilising USB or PCMCIA dongle completely. there is an chance the wifi in simple terms isn't nicely ideal with the domicile windows 7 you're utilising, if it become strong earlier domicile windows 7, even although you as a lot as date to the most modern drivers already, you're having a situation they have not fixed yet and think ofyou've got were given to anticipate yet another couple motive force variations.

It sounds like you're experiencing a weak signal since you stated your office computer is working fine. Although I would suggest you check to make SURE the computer you're having problems with connections are SOLID rather it's a USB connection, Slot card, etc.

Also, try reorienting the Router, I've found the HIGHER I have mine placed the further I can pick up the signal around my house.

Although most SAY they can oick up 100 feet away, that's ONLY in an UNOBSTRUCTED path... such as an OPEN FIELD... NOT accouting for walls, floors, furniture etc...

Also, as suggested, it can't hurt to check for updated drivers.
