BrentC is a true geek!
I had Comcast Cable, but it had poor response time and reliability was an issue.
I'm now using Verizon FiOS at 15 down, 2 up for $45/month and I love it - super fast and cheaper than Comcast.
However, I have a friend with high-speed DSL (his is crazy fast for DSL - like 8 down and 1 up, much faster than your typical 768K) and he swears by that.
I guess the real question is, are you surfing or downloading?

AOL is slow because it is still mostly dial up, comcast and other cable internet companies are the fastest, but you pay for that speed. DSL is your best middleground, plus most of the time you wont use all the extra speed that you get from cable anyway.

an OC-768 connection would be the fastest (39gbps). The fastest affordable would be some something like verizons fiber optical service. They have up to 30mps down and 5mps up. Here is a link http://www22.verizon.com/content/consumerfios/packages+and+prices/packages+and+prices.htm.

I used to have Comcast cable and it was really great and very fast. The price has went up too much now. I switched to SBC Yahoo DSL (the premium one) and its much cheaper and you cant really tell speed difference... glad I switched
