Inspect the phone cable coming into your house for any cuts or nicks that might be exposing the wires inside the cable.

If you can't find the place where the wire is damaged, you will have to replace the whole drop to your house or replace the phone line inside of your house.

Good Luck,

a ground fault means that there is an electrical issue with your phone line. If you are getting a ground fault error, your DSL modem is protecting itself. At this point it is either in the internal house wiring or outside of the house.
Call your service provider, they may be able to help you, but I would suspect a service call is needed.

A ground fault is just what it sounds like: a fault in the electrical ground.

I'm not sure how you'd go about locating one in your phone line. You may need to call the phone company.

It means one of your wires is either touching another or is wired incorrectly. I had a computer set up in my personal family den and didn't know there was a ground fault until I bought a surge protector that warned me. I was running stuff in there for a year. A friend of mine who is an electrian found out the wiring was backwards in the room. Could have caused a fire he said.

the phone line coming into your house is maintained by the phone company..

inside your house.. may be another story... it is probably maintained by you ... unless you have a contract with the phone company

get your neighborhood geek to check it out for you... buy her/him a coke and a pizza.. she/he can use the food.
