i have a 2gb transcend pendrive and my motherboard supports booting from removable drives..

Actually the cd's are getting damaged so thought of this idea....

I downloaded spybot and ran it every time I quit and it found like 5-6 things every day and then about 2 days ago, it started finding nothing, is this OK ?

I am using a BT Voyager 1055 for wireless connection. No problems there. But sometimes when I boot up the PC, the small single "monitor icon" in the icon tray at bottom right indicates that it isn't connected to the homehub (even though it obviously is, otherwise no internet) with a red cross on it. Note I am not referring to the LAN network twin monitor icon. Sometimes it shows connection and other times not. I can "repair" the connection through Windows, but it does everything but clear the DNS cache, what ever that is, and then the icon shows connected. Anybody got the same issue, or any ideas on the cause/solution?

I recently bought a new computer with windows vista on it and have started learning how to network my computers. My desktop with vista on it is networked to the other desktop here (with xp on it) and my laptop with xp on it. I have them all in the same workgroup already and when they are all turned on my computer see both the laptop and the other desktop. I am able to print and everything and view files on the desktop with xp on it. However when I try to acess my laptop a message pops up that says "Cannot logon to this computer because I dont have permission". I went onto my laptop and made sure that I had file and printer sharing on. I am new at this and could use any advice that can be given.

What do I do to my laptop to be able to view the files on it?
Where is it on my laptop that I change settings to allow people to view stuff on it?

Anything anybody can tell me would be helpful, even advice on how to network.

What would the (20) relate to if we are doing currency conversion? Why should the number (20) be used in this example if the conversion is hard-coded why not any other number?

i have a psu with a 200w dc output.(okay thats bad but thats for my old comp)so guys im currently using a xfx geforce 6200 with 256mb ddr2 and i plan to upgrade to a x1650pro for less than 50 bucks ( a very good deal) but it consumes 8 watts more power. my current rig uses 207watts, a little over my psu's output but a x1650pro will use 215 watts altogether, which will push my psu even further by 8 watts so should i upgrade my graphics or change the psu

I'm tired of always being routed to UK sites and not being able to get onto other certain US sites while stationed overseas in the UK. Is there anyway to get a US ISP? or is there anyway to not necessarily switch my ISP but make my computer or internet think I am in the US? 2 questions please! OK, I set up a wireless network a few months ago, but I am not very tech savvy. Lately, my signal appears to be going in and out (Even though my D-link shows my signal as low but connected, I keep loosing my internet access). Moving the router is NOT an option. What settings can I change on the router to possibly strengthen the signal? Do they sell antennas to pick up better clarity? Please explain how I would change settings on my router very specifically, as I am not familiar with network settings. Thank you.

Also, I have my wireless network currently open. I will be conducting business online, and need to secure my network, so that other people can't access it without a password. How do I go about doing this?

The Problem:
Just built the computer about 3 days ago, everything booted fine and installed windows without a problem. Shut it down today to move to another room, and set it back up. Attempted to boot, but all that happened was the power light on the tower flash and the fans spin for a second. Took everyting out inspect connections and reinstalled. Boot it up and it worked, watched the system monitor to make sure nothing was overheating and left for a couple minutes. When I came back the computer was off and exhibiting the same behavior as before. After I press the power button and the lights flash all I can see on the motherboard is the blue and orange LED's lit.

Any help would be appreciated.

My pictures used to always open with 'windows picture and fax viewer' anytime i double clicked on them. Since i downloaded Microsoft office picture manager, the pictures always open with this program now. I know that i can just right click on the picture, go to 'open with' and choose the program i want to open it with.. but is there any way that the pics can just open with 'windows picture and fax viewer' whenever i double click on it?
