I'm tired of always being routed to UK sites and not being able to get onto other certain US sites while stationed overseas in the UK. Is there anyway to get a US ISP? or is there anyway to not necessarily switch my ISP but make my computer or internet think I am in the US? Sorry if this is completely ridiculus...I'm not very computer literate. Thanks for any help!

Asking something you don't know is not ridiculous.

No, an US ISP may not be able to give you the necessary wirings from US. You will "HAVE" to adjust with your country ISP. If you wish, you can choose a different ISP in the same country. But you cant use other country's ISPs

It is not likely. US ISPs are not set up in the UK (as far as I know), and you probably don't want to call the US to try and log onto an American ISP.

However if you know the IP address of the US sites you want you can type that in - for example, if you type in 64.233.161.104 it would normally take you to the US Google website, but typing the URL www.google.com would take you to the local UK google site. Note the "normally". Google sometimes refuses to do a search for me on their US site, and gives a message that they think I am a spammer / bot / whatever. The drawback with this method however is you need to know the IP address.

Most US bases overseas contract with local internet companies. You will just need to manually route to the US sites you want.

Greenham common, not sure if its still active but my Battalion had to go and help guard it during the CND protests from the smelly people. that was in the 80's, it was a US Air Force base and believed to have nucs based there.
