some kind of thing that allows you to connect two ethernet cables together, perhaps if one isn't long enough to span the distance between a computer and a router? if so, where can i get one?

I am planning on getting my sister a laptop for christmas but i am so totaly stupid when it comes to computers. Can anyone tell me a good computer and were I can get it from 600 to 800 dollars. she plays a lot of online games and chats online with her boyfriend with a wed cam. (idk if that helps) thanks

Well my dad got me a toshiba labtop over the summer. Everything was fine till about 3 weeks ok i had 3 internet windows up. I closed 1 of em and they all closed. THis keeps happening and i dont know why. can someone tell me what might be wrong or how to fix it thx.

I had no firewall and no virus or spy protection for a long time... (stupid yes but I didn't know) of course the result was that I had a bunch of crackers but now I reformatted and have all that, still someone keeps changing my msn display picture and personal message he does it in a matter of seconds while I'm looking at it!!! how does he do that? I run all the programs including housecall and nothing is found please if anyone knows help me understand. Thank u!

There is a notice (popup) on the bottom of my screen, by where the computer shows the time, and the alert says, "your computer has detected a number of spyware on your computer. you should download an antispyware system" it comes on every 5 minutes. how do i get rid of it????

So last week my 40 gig hard drive on my other computer crashed.
I have ever so carefully removed it and replaced it with a new 160gig hard drive. In addition I have removed my old 20 watt power supply and replaced it with a 500 watt.

So I figured this would be easy. Install the new stuff, run the system discs and bam I should have it... well its not working.

Seems like the computer is not reading the CD's or something.
Any one out there able to thow me a bone on this?

Can someone help me? I found this one Blogger Site that had a bunch of music uploaded on it from various sources...albums I mean. I don't remember what it was called...but I think it was something like

"Just Good Music" or something like that but it had that orange B think off to the side so I presume it was apart of the Blogger network.

If someone finds it or knows it can you send me the link?

And don't say "Google it" cause I've tried that so many times already and I still can't find it

I have only done a hard shutdown once since ive gotten my computer. What kind of damage will it do to my computer? I have heard many people say its ok to do it and some have said it can ruin your hard disk or operating system. I would greatly appreciate the help.

I use thunderbird and to check my yahoo mail I must first launch Y-POPs and than launch thunderbird so it can retrieve my Yahoo mail. but its a hassle to do both, is there a way to do both at once(by launching one program)?
Maybe some notepad text that can launch both?

http://www.smartfixer.com/trial.html it it ticking me off ugh i got it on my other computer but now that computer is in a state as whenever i turn it on it autmaticly restarts when the logon screen appears and it will do that as long as the computer power is on, i also lost my jump drive so even if i had the other computer working i wouldn't be able to save it to it and bring it to my other computer it is to big to add as an attachment to mail so i cant do that i cant download it at school because of download restrictions and this is so annoying because i just downloaded a windows update pack and it seems as if that is causing it all. the new security is annoying i tried to turn it off but then my computer when i went on the internet rebooted and now i tried just turning some off and then it still doesnt work i have very few chars left. PLEASE HELP ME

Just bought a laptop today from futureshop. Here it is http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10089806&catid=25314&logon=&langid=EN

The laptop supposed to have 80 GB of Hard drive but once I turned on the laptop and in My Computer, in the C:\ drive it says 22 GB free space out of 32 GB?? There is another drive, D:\, it says 33 GB free out of 33GB. Combine them together theres only 65 GB of Total size??

Can anyone explain this?

**Another thing it also says on the laptop that it only has 766MB of Ram memory, when it supposed to have 1GB RAM (1024MB)??

pop up tally on my laptop?

There is an icon on my toolbar that shows how many pop-ups have been blocked. Is there a way of clearing this to zero so I know how many have been blocked each time I use the net?

My Brother MFC 420CN is not compatable with Windows Vista without the drivers. the drivers are up for download at the Brother website, but what do I do after i download the drivers? I am stuck because nothing pops up to help me or anything like that. HELP!!!!

I have a USB flash drive that has a capacity of 994MB. I have 15.2MB on it and the drive properties show I only have 623MB of free space.

What is taking up all the space and why can't I see it? I am showing all the hidden and system files/folders too.
