My Brother MFC 420CN is not compatable with Windows Vista without the drivers. the drivers are up for download at the Brother website, but what do I do after i download the drivers? I am stuck because nothing pops up to help me or anything like that. HELP!!!!

You just doubleclick on the driver file you downloaded to install the drivers. Leave the printer unplugged until they're installed. Then plug it back in and it should work.

If you have the drivers for Vista then uninstall any old drivers you have. Have your printer turned on but not plugged into your USB port. Start the install--it should tell you when to plug printer in. If it doesn't restart your puter after the installation in complete then plug your printer in. With the drivers and .inf file installed Vista should see and install it.

I believe you may have the security settings in Vista set too high (by default) it restricts you from opening files that are in .exe format. (This prevents you from opening files that may contain viruses, etc.

Lower the security settings in Vista and try to run the application again
