I have a USB flash drive that has a capacity of 994MB. I have 15.2MB on it and the drive properties show I only have 623MB of free space.

What is taking up all the space and why can't I see it? I am showing all the hidden and system files/folders too.

Plug the drive in and empty your recycle bin. Old files don't go away until you do that. If that doesn't fix it, you'll need to repartition it.

You didn't say what kind of flash drive you have but many manufacturers have added intelligence (re: takes up space). As an example the Verbatim U3 drives are actually 2 drives in 1. A CD drive with their intelligent Launch application and a removable drive. You can't get to the CD part, only the removable drive.

Hope that helps some. You can check your manufacturer to see what else is on the drive.

Hard drive and flash drive manufacturers say the capacity is bigger than it really is, so this causes a lot of confusion among the real capacity.
