I prefer square because most of the things I do on the computer are vertical, such as word and excel documents and internet browsing so I want more up and down space on my monitor. Also with widescreen you have to move your eyes so much more to the right and left that they get sore by the end of the day.
But the one that better for you is the one you like best. Go to a computer store and use both kinds and see which you like better.

There is no 'better' or 'worse' it depends on what you are doing with the display and what you like.
There are advantages to both:
Regular:
Has more screen area, has a higher resolution (number of pixels)
Web pages that have a fixed width (probably a majority) are easier to read on the taller screen.
a double page view of documents fits well onto a regular aspect ratio.
Widescreen.
>21" screens are almost all widescreen.
Photos and definitely movies fit much better onto a widescreen display.
For having multiple windows open, some people like the more horizontal spread of a widescreen.

I'd say Widescreen. Most movies and games are now optimized for widescreen monitors, and with a widescreen monitor, you get a bigger screen than with a square monitor.

It comes down to a matter of preference, I prefer widescreen. There are advantages and disadvantages to both I suppose. I just like having the extra workspace.

An anti-static cloth and nothing else. You could use a toothbrush for cleaning the keyboard, too.
