my sister is downloading stuff all the time and i can't even browse the net
so i need a program that gives me most of the bandwidth connection so i can do what i want ..
and give her a little taste of wat i feel

Yesterday I noticed that on Safari (at least the Windows beta version), these don't work well, or at all: Yahoo! Mail, Google Apps, and MSN Live. (All three, I think, use some Ajax stuff...)

My question, for this and other reasons: do any of you Mac users, use the Mac version of Firefox? If so, does it work well?

I'm teaching a class on type conversions in Java, and I've run into something that I don't know myself. Here is a simple bit of code to show how type conversions are sometimes unreliable.

long l = 1000;
byte b = (byte) l;
System.out.println(b); // -24 (Unsure how Java arrives at this value)
System.out.println(l); // 1000

The variable "long l" is set to 1000. It is then converted to "byte b". "byte" can only hold values from -128 to 127. When I print variable "b", it prints a gibberish number of "-24".

How does Java arrive at "-24" when converting "1000" to fit into a "byte"? Is this value predictable?

Is this card any good/decent? Its the only card I could find that works with my 300W power supply, and no way am i upgrading that too. My current card is ATI Radeon Express 200 so i guess anything beats it. Also i found this one:

I download things that take a while and I don't want my comp to shut down automatically. I bought it a month ago, must've set some option in the beginning. I do want a screen saver and like the sleep mode after maybe 2 HOURS. u know? Where do I click to set all this up?

My computer specs
ECS mother board (supports Pentium 4, DDR&DDR2 Ram)
pentium 4 processor
512 MB PC 400 DDR Ram
80 gig and 40 gig hard disk sata
combo drive dvd/cd-rom
128 MB Nvidia VGA
(all specs are newly bought except for the 40 gig HD w/c i reformat it into NTFS (i know it's a stupid thing to do, deleting the existing OS) coz i don't want to keep my win 98 OS)

I've tried to install windows xp more than 24 times but always failed to do so. I followed the mother board's manual for the default configurations, plug all the necessary devices, checked all IDE cables and power supply yet i still recieve a blue screen displaying different errors. i also try to run the the windows xp installer on my friends computer and it runs perfectly.

I succesfully installed an OS on my 40 gig HD using my friends computer yet when I plug it to my computer it can the detect the OS but wasn't able to set it up and it ends up re-starting.

Help please!

Why can't i get rhapsody, archive.org, myspace music, any streaming audio to play without cutting out? I have 1GB for memory, 160 hard drive. It's brand new, but the internet is slow and i can't get music to play without cutting out! Please help.

i had a vcd of a b'day party .i run the vcd in windows media player 9 .i did the following to take a screen shot.

Pull the video onto Full Screen mode. Pause the video on the image you would like to capture. Hit the "Print Screen" key on your Keyboard. Then open Microsoft paint and paste it onto there.
then i use to save this screen shot in d: drive. but when i take other screen shot the saved one is changed as latest. how to save many screen shots in a drive as .also im taking screen shot in full screen mode but it is pasted as small mode,i.e the picture is minimised not in full screen view.

I have a few movies that I would like to burn to DVD. I went out and bought DVD-R disc's to do just that. Now, I put them into my disc drive but my computer doesn't even recognize that I have put a disc in there. When I put a reg disc (music cd) in there, it recognizes it but not the DVD. I thought maybe that it was my computer, even though it is brand new, so I put the disc into my sons computer (he has dvd burner also) but his computer didnt recognize the disc either?

The software I use for burning is Roxio - it came pre-installed in the computer (MyDVD9). I try to open the file and burn from there but Roxio also doesn't recognize the disc? It actually shows up that I don't have one in the drive. I keep getting this message: "Please insert a writable disc"
