I want my Resolution to be at 12XX x 768. i can't remember the exact number, but, i only have 2 choices on my settings tab. How do i get more options. (I can't get a new video card, and i've changed the resolution with my current [old] one yesterday.

okay i have no idea what is wrong with my laptop.. but it wont turn on. it used to turn on for like five minutes, then turn back off. now it doesnt turn on at all. someone told me i needed a new charger, so i bought a new charger, but it still didnt work. it used to work perfectly fine before i took it to another country. i did charge it there using a power converter, i dont know if that would do anything but i guess that information kinda helps. i dont want to take it to a geek squad or anything that will cost me to check it out. i have a compaq laptop. bought it 2 years ago... any suggestions on what i should try to do will really help

Is it possible to use Pentium 3 866Mhz and Pentium 3 733Mhz the same time on Dell Precision 220 motherboard?

I have an old compaq deskpro computer witch originaly had windows 2000 NT but I put windows XP.
Anyways, I need to uprgade this thing cuz' i'm tired of having an old crapy computer. I tryed installing a more power full graphics card but when I looked at the graphics card spacifics, it still said it had 8mb for the graphics card. I need to get this thing up and running for some gaming. Not super powerfull gaming but just to play games like flyff with some lag cuz lag doesn't bother me. Not to much lag tho. Anyway. If any sugjestions for some good upgrade on a budget (or not) . I just want a decent graphics card (128mb), space(20gb) and ram (I dono if I need it).

NO I CANT AFFORD A NEW COMP RIGHT NOW.

When I travel, I hate to pay the $10 - 12 per day for the hotel service but will when there is no other choice. In most any populated area there are often numerous secured and unsecured networks.

I wouldn't expect to ever be able connect to secured networks but I would like to better understand how unsecured networks work.

I will find that I am able to connect to some unsecured networks but not most. Its not dependent on signal strength so how do they vary?

Is there something I need to do to connect to some unsecured networks that is not necessary for others?

Please do not bother going on a rant about stealing someone's bandwith. Often these networks are provided to the public by coffee shops, the city, libraries, etc. They are intended to be used by the public. Additionally I leave my home network unsecured when I am not using it for the benefit of others. When I am using it, I re-secure it. Is there any risk in doing that?

I am trying to updgrade from 98 to XP Pro, but XP pro will not install, no matter what. I have tried from BIOS, from 98, just about everything. Sometime it will freeze while loading, sometimes while copying files, its always something. This computer has run XP before, flawlessly. What is wrong?

Long story short I formatted my hard drive because the operating system (windows 95) got messed up, after booting from the boot disk I go onto the win95 install CD and run setup. then it says "cannot create temporary directory. If you have HPFS or NTFS installed on your hard drive you will have to create a MS-DOS boot partition to set up windows

Lately when I've tried to copy then paste very large images (namely print-screen screen captures) to the image viewing/managing program I use IrfanView, an error message pops up saying that I can't paste from clipboard.

I've had it happen before, but it had gone away if I had fulled closed out the program (through the task manager) or restarted the computer, but the past couple of days it hasn't gone away. I've been able to paste screen sized images before (on the same program, same version of it) and not had a problem.

What's going on here?

by the way, i already installed my webcam in my PC, then when i plugged it, it will says that " there was a problem installing this hardware, the driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This maybe because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later?"

My computer will start then a black screen comes up that says keyboard and mouse detected. Sometimes it makes it to the "Windows" screen then it cuts off. Then it starts again all by itself and then cuts off again. The fan comes on, lights, and the monitor and it just stops and restarts over and over again. But it never makes it to the login screen. I have Windows XP on a Gateway.

Walgreens offers printer cartridge refills. It's $10 for black and $15 for color. They say they use only high quality inks. Is this true or is it better to just go have the empty ink cartridge recycled at Staples and buy a new cartridge?
