okay i have no idea what is wrong with my laptop.. but it wont turn on. it used to turn on for like five minutes, then turn back off. now it doesnt turn on at all. someone told me i needed a new charger, so i bought a new charger, but it still didnt work. it used to work perfectly fine before i took it to another country. i did charge it there using a power converter, i dont know if that would do anything but i guess that information kinda helps. i dont want to take it to a geek squad or anything that will cost me to check it out. i have a compaq laptop. bought it 2 years ago... any suggestions on what i should try to do will really help

You said you bought a new power supply. If you bought the right one then the problem has to be inside the notebook. I am sorry but that would require someone that knows how to repair an internal notebook power problem. This will require them to open it up. Because something in there has stopped getting the electricity. Maybe even burned out.

Same thing happened to me. A couple of things could've been wrong.

1. You have a virus.
2. Your motherboard is not allowing it to charge.
3. Your fan is broken and ur comp is overheating.

If it's numbers 2 or 3 then call your provider if you have a warranty or find a laptop repair service. If you have 1, start up in safemode and run your anti virus program.

a converter should have protected the voltage to the charger, if no lights come on at all i would say its the charger or the power jack it plugs into. it should have a light that shows when its plugged into ac power, if that doesnt come on its something wrong from the ac jack in the wall to the plug on the laptop

Maybe you have to invest in a new one. My laptop did that a couple months ago, its an HP...which I will NEVER EVER buy again. Anyways, it turns out it was the hard drive. Thank God we had another one from my other HP laptop laying around . He put it in an d BAM it worked again although I did lose EVERYTHING including my wedding stuff when it happened. But maybe try that.
GOOD LUCK!

sounds like it overheated to me. the 5 min at a time thing is a pretty sure sign of overheating alot of times, with nothing happening now though could have fried the mb or cpu due to overheating easy.but to be sure i would have to check it out lol
