I have an old compaq deskpro computer witch originaly had windows 2000 NT but I put windows XP.
Anyways, I need to uprgade this thing cuz' i'm tired of having an old crapy computer. I tryed installing a more power full graphics card but when I looked at the graphics card spacifics, it still said it had 8mb for the graphics card. I need to get this thing up and running for some gaming. Not super powerfull gaming but just to play games like flyff with some lag cuz lag doesn't bother me. Not to much lag tho. Anyway. If any sugjestions for some good upgrade on a budget (or not) . I just want a decent graphics card (128mb), space(20gb) and ram (I dono if I need it).

get agp 8x video card, like asus 9550 or better
you must add ram coz 256mb for win xp is too slow, get at least 1gb ram.
if you need to install more games, add a new hard drive

There's not a lot you can do with that... today's normal processors are usually 2-3Ghz, and pci express is dominating the market. RAM is easy to find even for old computers and so is hard drives. I'm guessing it's not a laptop but I haven't seen any desktop computer with 9GB of memory. I'd recommend getting an external hard drive to store your games and other important files on. RAM... upgrade it to 1GB or 2GB to keep it fast. The video card... I'd say get a GeForce 6600GT video card for AGP 8x, pretty common and will play most games. If you can, definitely get a better processor at least a 2.2Ghz to make sure your computer can run everything. If you bought all of that I'd say it'd cost you around 290-350 dollars depending on the specs of everything you bought. Also visit this source... it's an excellent store to buy computer parts and has information guides about upgrading computers.

Increasing RAM to 384 or 512Mb would make your PC useful for many applications except GAMING. Your processor and AGP bus are just too slow for 3D graphics. Faster AGP cards working at 1.5volts won't work on your 3.3V AGP slot.

Your most COST-EFFECTIVE option would be to find a better motherboard that has 4x or 8xAGP but still compatible w/ your processor and RAM. Then install a 64Mb or 128 Mb videocard. An ATI 9550 would be great. Then upgrade RAM and perhaps later the processor to the 1Ghz range.

Ok but like stated before there are computers for less than $200 out htere.
The 600Mhz processi=or can be bumped to 1.4Ghz. I do not know if you have a socket 370 or a slot 1, but here is a solution if you have a slot 1 intel processor.

The other thing that will increase your performane is RAM. Installing 768mb or if that computer has 4 slot 1gb of RAM will boost your reliability and overall speed.

Hard drives are so inexpensive go for a nice big one. You could pick up a 60gb or 100gb for around $60 if you look around.

If I am not mistaken the Compaq Deskpro P-III has a 4x AGP.

You'd be flogging a dead horse, 2X 64MB graphics cards are hard to find, save up for a newer PC. You'd also need more RAM (256 - 512MB)and a larger hard drive (40MB+) at the very least.

Check out http://www.kijiji.ca for a good used (but faster) PC, many are under $200. Here's an example:
