had a good hard drive from another comp that got busted baught a new comp and had the other drive piggybacked it had a bootlegg operatingsystem on it i cant get it to do anything help!!!

If the extra hard disk is jumpered correctly then you should be able to see it when you right click my computer, then select manage, then disk management. In the disk management window you can delete the partitions or simply reformat the extra drive. If it isn't showing up in disk management then it's jumpered incorrectly, make sure you have it set to secondary master. If you have a cdrom drive on the secondary controller then simply connect that extra drive to the primary cable with the new drive and set it to primary slave, the new drive should be set to master. Now it should show up in disk management, reformat it.

I'm guessing the new pc has an os already, so format the 2nd hard-drive and use it strickly for storage for photos, music, videos, etc.

go to control panel administive tools computer management then disk management and set the new drive to active and asign it a letter
