he has been using computers since nursery school!uses this one all the time.and he is sensible

get him the best you can afford he will be using it for years so make sure it wont need upgrading for some time.
remember its your son spoil him as much as you like (unless your name is Platt)

Why does an 8 year old need a laptop? Satellite TV, needs to go away, so does the motorbike. Sounds like he's a couch potato most of the time if he thinks he needs a laptop. Make him go outside and play.
Your the parent tell him NO!

A compaq C500 at about $450 USD should do the trick. If you want to spoil him and he might want to become a game champ pro have a look at the new Dell 1520 with an optional NV8600 vid card.

I have four kids only 1 has a laptop for school work and he is not allowed to have anything other than school work on it he has everyother games console that you can buy on the market and even though he wants to have games on his laptop apart from the games that are already on it he is not allowed to waste the memory by down loading games, the laptop is a great tool for kids at study stage not 8 year olds

You should never let a child this young use the internet or a computer without direct supervision.
No laptop is not suitable for an 8 year old. Spill something on it, drop it, bang it around and it will be trash.

I agree with the other person, why the hell would an 8 year old have a laptop? Dont you need to watch what your child is doing on the internet? You know...with all the perverts out there and that... not let them take the laptop everywhere they like.
I got my laptop when i was 16!!!

At this age I would go for the bottom end of price range, But I would make sure it was wireless enabled as most children want to talk to their friends on MSN or like program. Even at bottom of the range when you add the cost of a printer and case you are looking at £400

Dell makes the worst computers, so don't get one. Get a high quality Toshiba laptop. I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092.

try a Vtech. Sorry, IMHO 8 year olds are to young to have their own PC let alone a Laptop. After years of using a laptop and watching crap on satalite, he'll have no respect for people or property. get him a decent education 1st.... Next your be asking " what sort of puppy shall i get him for Xmas?"

JESUS H CHRIST dont come running to us in 6 years time when he has turned into the little sh*t from hell. could you not possibly spoil him anymore, there will come a day when he will steal to get what he wants when you can no longer provide what he wants because of your crippling debt. if you want him to have a laptop let him use yours or r u to busy on it and thats why u buy him so much **** ? guilt ?
