my school sold off its old laptops and deleted all the info (so we thought). Today a parent who'd bought one came in to say that her 14 year old son had accessed the school data base that we thought was gone! Grrr! Any suggestions folks?

JV16 Power Tools 2007 from http://www.macecraft.com has a file wiper that will wipe any part of a disk that you wish. You download a full working version on a free 30 trial. It should do what you require.

Remove hard-drive and use a hammer, then buy a new hard-drive. That's always the safest and best way to get rid of unwanted data.

Truethfully all the software that will supposedly erase unwanted data, can be recovered by a professional using FBI grade software available commercially.

it was just the one parent???

a mistake has been made when the file deletion process was being done that,s al, next time make sure whoever performed this is a lot more thorough with what they are doing.
