I allow the auto-update utility to download the updates but all it does is search my HD for the updates, because I have already done this (close to 15 times) so I assume the updates have already been downloaded from Microsoft's site. The utility then asks me to install the some 72 critical updates I need for my service pack 2 machine. (I just recently reformatted the machine due to an excess of garbage files on my HDD) The utility goes along for a little bit, then a pop-up appears and says the following updates could NOT be installed, and it lists the some 70 updates I just chose to install. After this the "Updates are ready for your computer" box appears, and I choose to download the updates and the process starts all over again. Can anyone help me? I figure I'm fluent with computers, but this just throws me. Maybe the downloads go to a certain directory I could just delete and allow the utility to re-download them?

I have a laptop,i can superficailly operate it,but i know nothing about how it works,which really bugs me,i have tired reading it up from many places,but i just doesnt make sense.
Evertime i tell people i have a laptop,the immediate question is ,how much RAM or how many gigabites.
And i feel stupid telling them i dont know,and that i am not so good at technical stuff.
Please help me out with this one,

My home PC shut off and will not come back on.?
I was on my PC and it just went dead. I have an HP Pavilion not more than 3 years old. There is a small green light on the back of the PC that is flashing, but when I press the power button nothing happens.

There was a thunder and lightning storm in my area when I was using the PC. I have the PC and all other equipment plugged into a surge protector. Everything else that is plugged into the surge protector is working but the PC is not. I unplugged the PC from the surge protector and plugged it directly into the wall outlet but it still doesn't work.
What is that little green flashing light in the back?
Is there ANYTHING I can do to get my PC running again?
