There is a small appellate called CPU-Z that will tell you just about everything you want to know about your Motherboard, Processor, and Ram. You can download it here. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

It usually comes zipped up, so just unzip it. You do not need to install it. Just click on the exe file. Give it a few moments to scan the system. When it opens, click the SPD tab.

I suggest you look at the brand of your laptop, goto the manufacturers webpage and look up your model too see what it came with (IF you don't have the manual to tell you these things) and obviously whatevers in there you should use.
