Hi there... Is there any computer expert up there...i need to research on Cable Modem... but i don't know wad is that.. i need to focus on:

- Identify the benefits and the limitations of the technology

- Comparison (compared to other similar technology)

i find thru internet and i don't know what they talking about..

I have a wired router at the moment which has an integrated parallel printer port which i want to keep which you obviously can't get on newer routers, i can get a wireless router from a friend cheaper that a new access point, can i use the wireless section of the router in conjunction with my wired router and forget the rest or will i have to get an access point

I Want to replace MS office 2000 with 2003, My Question is

1- Will it affect my saved documents (words, excel.....) in any way ? should I backup my documents ?
2- What should I do with my outlook emails.. will it be there or they will be removed ? Should I backup it also ?

Please advise? Any additional suggestion is welcome.

I love to play with and work on my computers. Mostly though, I want to be able to surf the web more often. The trouble is, however, between working 2 jobs, 7 days a week, and traveling from home to work and back for a total of 4 hrs a day, walking and riding various forms of public transportation, I don’t get much time. I recently bought a laptop with wireless networking capabilities so that I might do some surfing while on my 45 min. train ride but haven’t been able to because I can’t connect to a network. How can I get around this?

I knwo that my computer have a viruse & I downloaded AntiVir from what I know its a jerman programe. I scaned my computer & it found 62 files. what I need help about is some of teh files name is :
Worm - trojen house - korbo - etc.
so is thies files are the viruses ? should I delet them ?

Alright now that ive got your attention I have a few questions for you experts.
1-How do you get hosted when you can afford to go out and buy your own web domain but you want to be a hostee, and none of the hosts seem to answer or accept that you have to start somewhere.
2-How do you make a layout I mean how do you choose good qaulity pictures and make unique layouts?
3-How do you choose a good name that people remember and its not bad in any sense just creative.
If any one can help me that would be awesome..as you can see I am trying to become an expert as well..even though that might take a while!

I got this computer at goodwill it's an e-machine 996mhz 386ram it has windows xp home edition do you need the xp cd to do a reinstall? I don't know if you do or not I would like to wipe the harddrive so it will be like new i think thats what it will do any help on this would help thanks

um, so I had to go buy a new power supply, and now it doesn't shut itself off....but the monitor shows nothing. before anyone says anything, it IS plugged in. everything is plugged up correctly. there's 2 red lights coming out of the video card right next to where it plugs in (it's an ati radeon x1900 btw) and I think there might be something wrong w/ it, but also what might be the problem is that according to the light on the front of the case, the hard drive is being constantly accessed while it's on (orange light is on from the time I turn it on, had this problem when it shut itself down too) I really don't know what to do and really need help. PLEASE HELP ME. if there's anything I can do w/o buying more crap please do tell 'cause I can't spend anymore money right now!!

Here is my problem I was surfing the net and found that my speed suddenly dropped. And when playing games my ping was at 900ms. I checked my cable modem diagnosis. And my forward path used to be 705Mhz and now its at 117Mhz
the SNR is at 34.8dBS the RSS is around 6.3dbmv 256QAM
and the Return path is 25Mhz which is the norm. But the power level is at 56.5dbmv
And today my digital cable box quit working just a few hours ago and the internet has been acting up for the last few days..
I have checked the splitters and they are ok I replaced them and even ran straight to the main line with the same problems.

what would cause this?

(1) Thanks to a Yahoo answerer I was able to see my IP number, but it was accompanied by 2 other numbers, thus: Subnet Mask: and Default Gameway: What do these 2 names mean?

(2) Why does Outlook Express have automatic double line space sometimes, so that I have to paste my text on notepad and then transfer it back to OE? Is there a way to make single line space a default? I wonder what causes it to do this, and what causes it to do it only sometimes?
