I was wondering which processors are faster...and what's the best way to compare the speeds of an Athlon to a Intel? And if you have a dual processor...and your speed is say 3ghtz...does that mean your speed is actually 6ghtz because of the 2 processors?

I have a Compaq Presario V2220US that I've had for 2 years. I love it, and my life is essentially on this laptop. I do not want a new laptop for hopefully a year... mostly because I want to wait a while before getting Vista, etc... so, the battery died a while back...it stopped holding a charge completely about 6 months ago so I have had a wonderful stationary laptop since then. For a short time, without a battery, my computer would shock me if I touched it...but we made it through with a little understanding. Now, while scouring e-bay I've found a reasonably priced battery and AC adapter for my computer...a better MUCH price than the $250+ if I were to get them through HP...however I don't know if I should go for it or not. I know I'd need a battery...but should I get both...or just continue one with my own personal stationary laptop? I guess I'm worried that I will get a new battery and my old ac adapter will ruin it, or I'll get an adapter I don't need...is there anyway to test it??

the system was in a DOMAIN called ADMNT. From a user I made an another user as administrators. But could not be a member of DOMAIN. So when I logged on I couldn't connect with net. I tried to connect (inter net Connection wizard)and join in the DOMAIN, but failed. Then I turned the syystem out of domain by clicking "the system not in a domain ir Work group, it is for a home PC" some thing like that. then it said I must "restart" but after doing so system dose not log on in both the new and old accounts. PLs help.......

I just found this link for Windows Movie Maker 6.0:

I'm finally getting my OWN computer. The rest of the family can't share -- I work 10 -14 hours a day, 5-6 days a week, and when I get home, I want to play and destress, however, since my mother and brother can't find a way to share and get their things done in the 10-14 hours I'm gone (neither one of them work or are going to school), I end up getting 10 minutes at the end of the night and getting booted off because someone NEEDS the computer, or because they take so long to get off the thing, that I have to go to bed, else I be late and or tired the next day at work.
(sorry, had to vent)
SO, finally, I'm buying my own computer within the next week or so. And I want to have internet on it. The family computer has Bellsouth/AT&T DSL.

And I have no phone jack in my room. Only a cable outlet.

So, what would be the best course of action for getting internet in my room? As in, the cheapest and most efficient?

Right now Im in a hole guys. I cant get out and im down as far as I can go. I have warrants out for my arrest because of unpaied tickets. I cant get a job because I dont have an Phot ID to cash checks . I dont have an ID because If I try to get my drivers liscense they will arest me at the DPS office. Bascially before I was 16 I had lots of tickets already because I was driving and I didnt pay them so now they are really expensive :(. My life is going nowhere I cant turn to anything. Where do I go from here?

i don't know exactly if what is happening is an automatic shutdown. it's just that my pc is shutting down without me doing it, and after that i cannot start my computer abruptly. it would take about five minutes to start it again, and the worst thing is it always happen every 30 minutes or so...what shuld i do? what's wrong with my pc?pls help....

I cant right click on the desktop, i mean i can but nothing shows up, i cant click on the start menu, the only way to get into any programs is to hit cntrl, alt, delete and click on new task, and select a program. I tried running the virus program and it found no viruses. I am using the free version of avg. Before all of this happened, i got hit with alot of viruses and i moved them to the vault, but i hve since then deleted them and still having the same problem. I am using Windows Xp. Please, Pleasee help
