Hi, I understand that AC adapter in not charging the laptop but when you hold the pin of the adapter that goes into the laptop at an angle it will charge. If this is the case then I am afraid the charger slot on the laptop is malfunctioning. In this regard, if your laptop is still under warranty you contact the manufacturer support they will fix this. Many companies provide a free pick from home. For the total process contact the technical support they will provide you with the steps. Also tell them AC adapter is also getting extremely hot so that they will fix the same

You should call DELL and find out if your laptop is one where the battery has been recalled. If it is, they will send you a new battery. I don't think you have to worry about your battery exploding because you left it plugged in. How can you charge the battery if you don't leave it plugged in?

if your battery isnt one of those that was recalled, and the russians don't have a hit out on you, i wouldnt be worried. leaving your laptop plugged in to charge while it is off is perfectly acceptable, infact your battery *should* charge faster when the laptop is off.

No it won't, but you could check to see if it was one of the recalled batteries and get a replacement, just go to dell.com and do a search for "battery recall."

What you did will NOT cause your battery to explode.
