My compaq laptop does not show the High Speed connections/LAN or ethernet ports in the Network Connections. So I can't use my DSL modem is there something i can do without reinstalling the OS? Please Help

Hi people, I recently bought a new system from dell, I had windows vista home premium on it, but I liked the Dreamsense so I went to buy windows Vista Ultimate and install on it. So I lost all the drivers for graphic cards, sound card...etc. Dell did not send me a cd for graphic card so i had to download it online. I downloaded it, and it would not let me install the driver+ softwares because it says I have to log on as an administrator to install it. But my account in windows is the one and only account, and it is an administrator.
Anyone knows how to fix this problem? I have contacted dell tech support but they kept pushing me back and forth with those phone numbers and came out they couldnt help me because my "service tag is flagged"?!? I just ordered the system on May 20 and received it 2 days ago.

I've created a document using google documents. When I use the e-mail option and it sends as a word document the formatting is all messed up when I open it thru the e-mail. I've also tried as a pdf and the same thing happens. How do I send the document the way it's viewed thru google? Help please

I would like to connect wirelessly to the Internet in my bedroom through my D-Link/DSL modem which is in my brother's room. When I click in the DLink wireless icon, I am asked to key in a WEP/WPA key. What is this? And where can I get one? Also, most of the time I get a low connection and have to disconnect from the wireless. And what s Linksys?

I read one dude's story about how he used one defragmenter and then used another one and it messed up his OS. Due to the positive results on my other question, I have chosen Diskeeper over Windows Defragger. But I had already started windows defragger, and planned on using the best one I could find to follow it up. But after reading about that guy, I would like to know if running Diskeeper after windows defragger will mess up my OS?

I have a desktop computer with a wireless keyboard and mouse that hooks up to a USB port. I have had trouble with both and have replaced them three times with new ones. The ones on there now are from HP,the same brand as my computer. My question is if I buy a wired keyboard and mouse that uses PS2 (round cable) will it work? The problem is neither wireless mouse nor keyboard work. The computer might as well be dead. Please, your opinions count.

got some second-hand computer rams from my friend. How do I set it up? I mean, I know how to plug those rams into the slots of my computer... but what should I do next? Last week after visiting Best Buy, after watching a salesman try to sell anti-software to a customer, it brought me up questions. So the customer is purchasing a new computer, and the salesperson tries to sell anti-software along with the computer. He elaborates on how it can protect the computer from spy ware and viruses. Unfortunately, she buys into his brainwashing pitch. In the end, she buys it.


We all know spy ware and viruses are bad for our computers. However, when a anti-virus company creates a program to counter it, the cycle continues. Hackers create better viruses that surpass the anti-virus software. Soon the anti-virus companies discover it, then it goes on and on. The need for people to protect their computers can be costly. This can also mean companies are making millions on anti virus products. I want to read what everyone thinks about this.

Hello! I have been having problems with opening internet explorer. It will open and then it freezes up. I restarted it and it does the same thing. i uninstalled it and it does the same thing. Im so tired of this problem so i downloaded mozilla firefox and have been searching the internet for good scan programs because McAfee has not been scanning at all! It freezes up too!! Can someone please tell me what i can do?? Im not much of a computer person and i just want a scan that it going to detect different viruses and etc. i really don't care how much i have to pay for it either! Please help me!!
