got some second-hand computer rams from my friend. How do I set it up? I mean, I know how to plug those rams into the slots of my computer... but what should I do next? Do i need to do something to "tell" my computer that I got more memory or I won't need to do anything and it will find out by itself? thanks.

BIOS will do everything automatically even if you mix different speeds. BIOS will just read the module's SPD and make the necessary settings. Memory speed will default to the speed of the lowest.
You can test each of those RAM sticks one at a time on DIMM1, the slot nearest to the processor. Clean the slots that have been empty w/ a small paint brush.

You cannot put just any ram in your computer. Go to the web site for your computer to find the type of memory your system uses before you attempt to install it. If you have the right ones your system will automatically detect it.

As long as the RAM is compatible it will be recognized automatically. Just make sure you know it's the right kind of RAM!
