You need to install whatever OS you want on the new drive. That'll require the installation disc and key code. You'll still have an OS installed on the other hard drive so when you start your computer, it will ask which one you want to start. Just pick the one that's on the right drive. there's no way to get rid of that without formatting that drive.

you can not have 2 windows base operating system of the same ver on 2 different drives .it would be easier for you to copy everything you want to save to a CD or DVD ROM then install windows on the new drive and then format the old drive and make it a slave .also a sata will not boot your computer faster to get the system to boot fats er is one add more memory and also a faster cpu and also make sure you do not have alot loading in the boot up.

Probably the easiest way is to install Windows on your new hard drive. Afterwards, change the boot sequence so that the computer boots first from the new hard drive. The result is the computer runs Windows from the new hard drive and you can use the older hard drive just for storing files.

Due to drivers related to the old drive in Windows, just move "all the other data" and leave Windows there.
