This will be the first weekend I can't ride my bikes, what am I going to do with my free time?
I already read all my motorcycle magazines cover to cover, I cleaned my bikes last weekend, the motorcycle dealers don't have anything new in, no biker shows around, Im bored reading about motorcycles online.
PLEASE! give an idea that will excite me about motorcycles!
I'm getting so desperate that im thinking about moving to California

I just kind of thought of this and got a little curious on how others define their preferred type of motorcycle. Like if you were going to get a dirt bike what brand would you get and why? What brand would you get if it were a cruiser and why? what kind for a sport bike and why? what comes to mind when you think of each brand name? What is you favorite bike and why? I just think this would be interesting to see exactly how different people define and group the different brand's and associate them with type's. I hope we can get allot of answer's lol for some reason I don’t get allot of reply’s probably because I ask the question very late. I cant wait to read all the reply’s. : )
Remember this is what YOU think of them.

What states require helmets, and which don't?

It would be nice to get input from all 50 U.S. states, AND from riders outside the states as well. How are the helmet laws in Queensland?

I know about at least 3 states:

Maryland: Required by all riders.

West Virginia: Required by all riders.

Pennsilvania: Required for all riders under the age of 18, and all riders over 18 who posess less then 2 years riding experance. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks Everyone.

Harley has been useing japanese parts since 1975, right now they still use japanese carbs ( mikuni ), japanese forks ( showa ). Also some of the wheels are made in japan. Thier fuel injection was designed in germany ( Volvo ). Alot of thier electrical stuff is from japan. Thier V-Rod is a metric bike, how many american bikes do you know that use metric parts.

Hate to say it fellas but harleys are'nt all american made, my ford truck isn't all american made either.

I say ride what you want to ride, I'll be rideing my Kawasaki Drifter ( fake indian ). "LOL"

I have a Ninja 250 that I bought in July. To start it up, I normally use minimum choke to get the bike started and let it warm up for about 5 minutes. I then drive a few blocks before closing the choke.

Normally this has worked just fine but lately my bike shuts off at the first couple of lights.

Half of my friends tell me that I shouldn't let the bike idle when I first start it and that I should not wait longer than a minute. Then other friends are telling me that I should let the bike warm up for about 5-10 minutes.

I'm so confused! What is the proper way to start the bike? What exactly does choke do and why is it bad to use it?

I changed the throttle cable and fuel line on my bike and now its running weird. Its been revving up on its own at idle and then stalling or just stalling when I let off the gas. I never messed with any of the mixcher screws. Any one know what might be going on here?

I just bought an 03 gixxr 1000 and I'm dying to ride it and it's killing me to see it sit in the garage, but I live in colorado and the winter is quickly aproaching. The bike is not yet insured/registered, but I could take care of it in one day if need be.

My question is, would you insure your bike and register it now, or wait til riding season to spend the money on that?

because I live in colorado it's impossible to predict how many 60+ days I have left, any other colorado riders, help me out?

insurance=$700+/yr.
registration=±$150

Ok I am 16 year old and planning to take the MSF soon, I am deciding weather to get the 2008 Ninja 250r or the United Motors V2s 250r, I like the looks of the V2s250r, but its a new company, is it safe to buy from this company or should I jsut get the Ninja 250r because Kawasaki made it...also what s the pros and cons if I choose to pay the bike in 60 months instead of 24 months?

Right, 1st gear is fine, through to second gear ... also fine...into third...slows dwn as if the chain stops...and the only way to get it out is to kik start it wich is VERY tough when this happens and to unclick it into gear 2 or 4... 4 is also fine.

so you may be thinkin the cog is broken for gear 3...but if you lift the bike off the floor and run it through first to second to third it runs perfect...(and then into fourth and back down) giv the bike weight to pull n it will jam...i dnt get it, i really dont fancy takin the engine apart to see theres not a big deal rong with it...
any answers?

What street motorcycles (NOT dirtbikes) use kickstarters these days? Recent past? Is a Yamaha SRX600 a good bike? Will I have a heart attack trying to start a motorcycle with a kickstarter (I am 48 years old)?
