Right, 1st gear is fine, through to second gear ... also fine...into third...slows dwn as if the chain stops...and the only way to get it out is to kik start it wich is VERY tough when this happens and to unclick it into gear 2 or 4... 4 is also fine.

so you may be thinkin the cog is broken for gear 3...but if you lift the bike off the floor and run it through first to second to third it runs perfect...(and then into fourth and back down) giv the bike weight to pull n it will jam...i dnt get it, i really dont fancy takin the engine apart to see theres not a big deal rong with it...
any answers?

ok, the rason it works off the ground is because there is no weight. if u had a sproket with grinded off teath it will spin fine off the ground but when u get on it. it wont because it dosent have enought gera to pull it. you ned to fix it because you obviously have a bunch of shreded metal in the engine.
its not to hard to replace any ofe these things. just start from the top and then crack the casing and clean it out then put in the new gears. make shur you put it back together the right way and if theres any other bad looking things fix them whil you are there.
hope this helps

In less you want to ride it a round in 1st and 2nd gear the rest of it's life, you will have to split the bottom and visual inspect the drive train for anything abnormal.

Matt's got some probs with spelling - but he's right.

If it's not the gear, it's the shift fork. Either way, time for a case split and fix.
