If I buy a can of the wax for clothes waterproofing will it work on a hitherto unwaxed cotton jacket and if so does anyone know what to do?

Forget about spraying anything - get yourself some Nikwax. It really works and will treat all of the jacket and you do it yourself. Google it you won't be dissapointed.

I just bought some stuff from Milletts called Sabsil to re-waterproof my boat covers - Should be worth a try.

havent heard of anyone doing that in a long time.
yeah it will make it more wind & waterproof but the cold will go right through it so make sure its big enough to wear something warm under it.

Yes, you can... If you use the stuff for re-waterproofing tents from camping supply shops...

Just follow the directions on the can (you might need two coats, my old Belstaff did)

you can send jacket back to makers and they will wax it for you

Get a can of "Scotch Guard". It's the best.
