Harley has been useing japanese parts since 1975, right now they still use japanese carbs ( mikuni ), japanese forks ( showa ). Also some of the wheels are made in japan. Thier fuel injection was designed in germany ( Volvo ). Alot of thier electrical stuff is from japan. Thier V-Rod is a metric bike, how many american bikes do you know that use metric parts.

Hate to say it fellas but harleys are'nt all american made, my ford truck isn't all american made either.

I say ride what you want to ride, I'll be rideing my Kawasaki Drifter ( fake indian ). "LOL"

I ride a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic and have to agree with you. American Made does not mean Made in America.

As with so many things besides a Harley, components are made overseas and those components are ASSEMBLED here. Hence, the terms, American Made or Made in America. But in reality, it just ain't so!

And by the way, there's enough room on the roads for whatever kind of bike someone wants to ride! :)

I don't think most people are that concerned about it .....
I ride a Sportster mostly because it was the cheapest bike for the size bike I could find and am now so happy with the comfort and performance after riding it for 6k miles and demo riding so many other bikes ........

I guess I am a bike tramp because I'll pretty much ride any brand .......

lots of the parts are outsourced contained in the East or Mexico Even lots of the engine parts are outfitted through Japan Honda yet are assembled contained in the united states. If the forks on them (and maximum are ) Made through SHOWA it extremely is a Honda owned production unit

It's just a saying of the puposely mis-informed.
Those who don't care will never learn.

My Ford, GM, and Mopars were stamped "Made in Canada".
Who cares?

FYI, they don't use carbs anymore.

I don't think anyone that knows squat about motorcycles believes that. The bigger question is why do all non Harley owners spend so much of their valuable time trying to find a way to put down on Harley's.
